WTB; Large Alice pack

WTB

My 16 (almost 17) YO son is looking for a large alice pack for a workout program he is getting ready to start.

The pack will be filled with sand and rocks to weigh it down so I dont think the condition matters.

Does anyone have a pack near Frederick that they are willing to part with?

I have a new 1990 era. It has been sitting in the garage so it's dusty.

Suggest he use logs (fresh cut of many species hardwood are / can be just like rocks or even cinder blocks); and, take better care of his lower vertebrae than I did, for all the decades I was 16 (almost 17) .... Both suggestions are based on experience (the former when we used to do conditioning runs up The Devils Staircase with full rucks; and the latter, because I never listened to any of the older guys who pleaded the same things to me!

When my son was training for Philmont, we filled his pack with gallon jugs of water.

i started out using barbell weights wrapped in an old sweat shirt...in a Korean/Vietnam war era pack. I was a 7th-8th grader then...I think.

I was 54 when I did Philmont with my son. He was the unit leader. It was 107 miles of awesome. I used a Denali pack there. I actually prefer the way the Alice pack carries (medium) even at 55-60 pounds Just not alot of room in it for bulky items.

Thanks for the info, well use logs for sure

He is using this training platform as part of his off season wrestling training and wants to keep up with it as conditioning for when he joins the Marines out of high school

This is the program. Its a conditioning for the Marine Raiders

We picked up the pack today from Skip. The pack is in excellent shape and it was nice to put a face to a name here on MDS.

Thanks to everyone
