You can do the load development, or run what other people have developed.

I've had a couple LR308 rifles with 16in barrels I hunt with. I settled on a 175smk for paper and a 180 Pro Hunter for making stuff dead. With the 1/10 twist even the short barrels seem to like the heavier bullets.
With that short barrel I loose a lot of velocity so I limit my hunting with that gun to about 250-300 yards for white tail.
I still have one of these guns and my loads of 42.5gr of RL-15 will stack bullets on top of each other at 100 yards.

It does not matter.

The concept of OCW is based on the fact that Federal Gold Medal Match shoots very well in EVERY rifle.

An accurate load is accurate.

Yes. I shoot pretty much by the OCW Instructions.

Along with brass case prep it's important to use fundamentals of marksmanship and steady hold.
I replaced the 7+ lb stock trigger with 3+ lb velocity trigger. Yes and big help in installing a muzzle brake.

The only difference I'm shooting 150 FMJ BT's right now and not 168 or 175 yet.

Then don't worry about the load, the bullet will limit your accuracy.

But check over on Sniper's Hide for an OCW with the 150s. I am sure someone has done it.

Loading Horn 150 match at the moment --will test 20 rds via OCW.

Looking for future loading bullets. SierraMatchKing 168, Hornady 168gr Match, Nosler LR 168gr ( has BC .525)?
Never shot any of these bullets. Especially in LR-308.

I wouldn't worry a ton in regards to BC with a 16" barrel.

My 20" bolt .308 with 175gr SMK is only going 2600 or so.
