    This is a terrible decision.

"The bill proposes changing the penalty for anyone possessing a magazine that holds more than 10 bullets from one year to three years’ jail time."-Charles Allen

Fantastic premise except the current law already has a one year mandatory minimum (10 max) which is not enforced based on the recent report from Mayor Bowser and Police Chief Newsham.

“The consequences of illegal firearm possession in our city is not changing the behavior. We’re arresting sometimes the same folks over and over again for carrying illegal firearms in the city,” - Newsham

This is a prosecution problem not an unregistered firearm, nor an MPD problem.

Quelle suprise. Lets see if they try to enforce it on people living out of DC jurisdiction.

this law is 100% targeting and vilification of legal gun owners; and it has 0% impact on illegal gun possessors who are likly 99%-100% of DC gun crime or any harm.

The process this law sets up doesn't make it one iota easier for DC polcie to seize a gun from an illegal possessor. MPD can already do that when anyone drops a dime on one already.

This is just an invitation to increase false claims allowing harassment of legal gun owners and to drive down any legal gun culture since anyone knowing you do have a gun can hurt you and put you though a problem.

Even better than that - any claim, whether person owns guns or not, will result in LE contact at a minimum.

There are two big wins: make people afraid of LE and drive gun ownership underground.
