I do know AOWs are any other weapons. Pen guns, kane guns, short pump shotguns.

What I want to know is whats the process do get one? how long will it take? I know its $5, but who is the areal be willing to put the grip on and do the paperwork? Near bel air area.

I wanted to see if i can AOW a ak pistol.

    Making an AOW costs $200

If an AOW is transferred from a dealer or private seller then the cost is only $5.

PS: Don't forget to suppress it ;)

    There is your catch22.

If you live in MD, the pistol is not in the handgun roster so it can not be shipped in for you to NFA the item for $200.

If you find a SOT (gun manufacturer) who can get the pistol, NFA register the item, then you would only pay the $5 transfer.

    Have you called Engage Armament?

Ya, call Engage. They were willing to take on a SAM7K for me by installing a vertical fore grip to make it AOW. One of the guys there said it takes several months waiting once you submit fingerprints, passport, application, and fee.

They tried to talk me into making an SBR out of my SLR-106. After listening to Buddy run through the process, I said "No thanks".

    passport???

Yep. It may be mostly for ID, but I think the guy at Engage said it has something to do with international transport concerns. You might get flagged on some system when you're traveling in/out of the country.

How much did they charge, and am i working aganst the the oct 1st deadling?

Same as Sling Blade, I chose not to pursue it due to the process. Call Engage. They are very helpful and great to work with.
