NRA is getting better at using emotional pleas as arguments. More and more states are arming their Guardsmen, especially recruiters, and that was happening before this video came out to politicize tragedy.

Military bases will always have no more than security THEATER at the gate. There's plenty of ways for a foreign agent to gain access without them or their vehicle being searched. And having been in as long as I have, there's plenty of morons who are non-deployable solely because they can't be trusted with firearms or they don't pass the Lautenburg (sp?) requirements.

At commander's discretion will be the most likely route--and most commanders won't want the "inherent risk" associated and deny it anyway.

I'm in Maryland and am a better rifle shot than most of our Military. And that makes *no* effing sense.

NB: I am not puffing myself up- only commenting on the sad state of firearm proficiency in the dot mil. If soldiers can't safely comport themselves while armed then there is a serious training problem.

Marksmanship- filling the gap between artillery and the bayonet since 1600.

    There is nothing new here...

I went into the USMC in 1961 & we were NEVER issued a Hand Gun or AMMO...

Only Officers got Hand Guns & the ONLY time were were EVER issued AMMO was on the Rifle Range...

And we had to account for every piece of brass that we were issued before we could leave the range...

The Government does NOT trust it's Soldiers or it's Citizens...

In general, Only the Military Police were armed on the base...
