This is some info I put together and used today during my testimony:

Statistics for Concealed Carry Permit Holders

As the number of law abiding citizens who possess a permit to “bear” concealed weapons has increased, many institutions have noticed the dropping crime rates. The crime rates have dramatically dropped in those areas where concealed carry is allowed and restrictions on the law abiding citizens have lessened. Below are some stats and articles that point to the evidence of these facts.

CBS Washington published an article on July 10, 2014 referencing a study done by the Crime Prevention Research Center. The following statistics were sighted:
    http://washington.cbslocal.com/2014...y-permits-surges-as-violent-crime-rate-drops/

The number of permit holders increased from 4.5 million to 11.1 million from 2007 to 2013.

During that time period the increase of permit holders was an astounding 130% while violent crime decreased 22%.

The study noted that the number of permit holders “is likely much higher” because many states do not require a permit to carry and some states that do issue permits, like New York, did not release the info.

The murder rate in 6 states that do not require permits to carry concealed was 23% lower and the overall violent crime rate was 12% lower.

The murder and violent crime rate is lower in the 25 states with the highest rate permit rate compared to the rest of the states.

“When you allow people to carry concealed handguns, you see changes in the behavior of criminals,” John R. Lott, Crime Prevention Research Center president

“We found that the size of the drop [in crime] is directly related to the percentage of the population with permits,” John R. Lott, Crime Prevention Research Center president

“for each one percentage point increase in the percent of the U.S. adult population holding permits is roughly paralleled with a 1.4 percent drop in the murder rate” John R. Lott, Crime Prevention Research Center president

    2. In 2013 the National Institute of Justice completed a survey of violent crime and the offenders. As part of the study, they investigated how the offenders obtained the weapons. The following are their findings:

“NIJ's earliest firearms studies uncovered who owns guns, legally and illegally, and how illegal gun trafficking is tied to juvenile gun violence and other crimes such as drug dealing and gang crime. Highlights of these studies:

Many juveniles and young adults can easily obtain guns illegally; most claim to carry them for self-defense.

A study of persons arrested for a wide range of crimes showed that a higher percentage of arrestees than regular citizens own firearms.
Arrestees are also more likely to be injured or killed by gun violence. Within a community, this amounts to an identifiable group of “career” offenders.

Surveys of offenders have found that they prefer newer, high-quality guns and may steal or borrow them; most, however, acquire guns “off the street” through the illicit gun market.

    3. The Washington Times released an article examining the impact of Illinois allowing citizens to carry firearms on 8/24/2014.

Below are some of the statistics:

Illinois has issued 68,549 permits . In Chicago robberies that led to arrests have declined 20%, burglary has declined 20% and motor vehicle theft has dropped 26%

During the 1st quarter of 2014, Chicago’s murder rate was at a 56 year low.

Mason County Sheriff Paul Gann said it’s too early to tell whether an increased carry rate will have an influence on crime rates.“What I can tell you is we haven’t seen a spike in crime,” said Mr. Gann. “We haven’t seen a spike in anything that’s gun-related — brandishing a firearm, shootings, robberies, nothing. These are law-abiding individuals.”

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ)–Controversial legislation. It could soon be easier for you to get a gun. Some Maryland lawmakers want to add self-defense as a reason to issue gun permits.

    Brilliant first line

WJZ is useless, and has tried to screw us over several times.

Easier to get a gun?? I like that.

But, Heaven forbid anyone would actually want to :::gasp::: DEFEND themselves with one!!!

I just recently learned that WJZ and the Sun are affiliated
