Norton: Bluefield area, Mercer County. As far as the road work, at age 76 (almost 77), I don't think I'll be doing road work anytime soon:)

Charles Town/Harpers Ferry here. Moved from Damascus, MD as soon at the kids went off to college. Been here 2 years and couldn't be happier. It's what living in America is supposed to be like. Sorry Maryland, your not taking any more rain taxes, or my 2A rights from me ever again...

Question for the WV crowd. We considered WV for retirement but wonder about winter weather and medical care in long run. We like the politics!

Medical care is an issue. My oncologist was deeply concerned about me losing the team approach in West Virginia. I chose where I lived based on having a clinic and hospital near by and a VA only for medications. I tried a large local hospital but they put me into heart failure and JHH sent an ambulance for me. That's my error. I should have told him not to do that he was what they call in medicine using Tunnel vision. I was weak and not at the top of my game. On the flip side I had been having angina like symptoms for a year. JHH And VA found nothing wrong. Using ultrasound alone cannot be diagnostic in all cases. A doctor gave me Nitro glycerine and it reverted the symptoms immediately and a cath followed. (Sometimes insurance won't pay for it.) I put my trust in a doctor at WVU because he was on the caliber of any doctor I knew at Hopkins. He performed a very dangerous high risk stenting that even my doctors at Hopkins were impressed.
In closing I have an excellent primary, cardiologist and nephrologist he interned with all associated with WVU in Morgantown. I also am very versed on my conditions that's important. The heart failure got away from me because I was so weak.
Morgantown is about an hour half away.

As for schools they are underfunded lacking in supplies and school conditions. If I were moving here I would look for a private school, they may become more common with vouchers. Where the hell the lottery money goes is beyond me.

And understand this is a poor state, devastated by the last administration unemployment and the lack of a trained workforce will keep us their in spite of what Jim Justice says. There is a lot of drugs, imported from Maryland and Pennsylvania. Meth is rampant and Heroine with Fentanyl has brought this state to number 1 for deaths. EMS access can be delayed along with fire.

I love this state. I love the people. I love where I live. Good luck with your decision.

    I wanted to add this.
