I was assigned a Patient ID # after applying to the MMCC registry. Never followed through with a physician to get the official card. But yeah, that was enough to be a disqualifier.

Reached out to MMCC and they said I can send a written request to be removed. I'm assuming that I'll still have to wait 12 months after being removed though.

The whole thing is retarded. Why the feds are still picking on pot smokers is the mystery of the decade.

    Bill SB97

I did some more research and found that the MD senate passed a bill back in January that would prevent MSP from denying a firearm purchase based on MMCC. The bill is currently pending the House Judiciary Committee.

More Info on bill MD SB97: https://legiscan.com/MD/bill/SB97/2019

I also found that anyone looking to purchase a firearm must allow the MD health department to disclose whether they have applied for a MMC. Couldn't the MD health department just refuse to report this information? Similar to sanctuary cities? Why is MD helping to enforce this federal law when they could choose not to?

To clarify - that bill passed the Senate was never acted on by the House of Delegates prior to Sine Die. It is a dead letter as far as the Maryland General Assembly is concerned, unless a legislator tries to submit the bill again this year.

The bill was an attempt to mitigate a federal issue. It would have placed Maryland citizens in a legal quandary - legal to purchase under Maryland law while violating federal law.

So pot smokers are the only class of people that MD is interested in supporting the RKBA for.

    Update to Post #101

It took longer than expected to get unregistered. They initially told me to submit a written request to the MMCC HQ in Linthicum, MD and that request went unanswered for almost two months.

What eventually worked for me was sending two emails to, MDH.infoandregistration@maryland.gov with your patient ID. It took two emails because I threatened legal action on the second. After the second email I was removed in less than a week.

Now that that's done. I'll still have to wait 12 months before the NICS database clears the prohibiting factor.

Would be nice if they had this information on how to unregister on the MMCC website.
