I let my C$R lapse and after destroying my bound book I wish to re-apply for a brand new license. Is there a waiting period before I can re-apply, like 30 days or something? I read the instructions on the C$R application but, oh those silly ATF people, they didn't speak to any specific guidelines for re-applications.

Also, is there anything specific I need to put about the question "have you had an FFL before?". I know the answer is "yes". For the explanation do I just put "I had a C&R license but it expired", or is there some magical explanation they are looking for.

Yeah, timing is everything I suspect. I think I read here on the forum one time that someone let it lapse and applied for a new one after a relatively short time (like a month or so) and they (the BATF) renewed their old one instead.... opps! Maybe they'll chime in.

If you are out of the renewal period and it's expired, I know of no reason why you can't apply for a new license immediately.
