I figured I would put this up if anyone is interested...if you are LE, fire, EMS, or active military, you will probably want to read on...

Rick Hinderer is the designer of all of the Zero Tolerance-Hinderer lines (ex: 0560, 0561, 0550, 0551) and some of the Kershaw-Hinderer Designs (ex: the Thermite, which I reviewed a few months ago). The ZT and Kershaw Hinderer lines began with the Rick Hinderer XM-18 (3 and 3.5 inch) and XM-24 (4 inch) folding knives. These are his folding knives he designed initially which eventually trickled down to his partnership with Kershaw and ZT. The XM-18 has become one of the most popular semi-custom/semi-production knives on the planet. The demand is overwhelming...Hinderer's production capability is very limited, further increasing demand.

The MSRP of these knives are $385 for the 3 and 3.5 inch XM-18 models (more for the 4 inch XM-24). They generally sell new for $650+ on the rare occasion when they are in stock...sometimes a lot more. The demand is incredible. A XM-18 with a $385 MSRP (meaning it has standard options) often sees prices exceeding $650 from both dealers and auction sites...and even at those prices the knives sell pretty fast. The short supply of dealer stock on these fantastic knives drives prices up further...(especially sizes and options considered the most desirable.)

Rick Hinderer's experience comes from being a first responder and he designs his knives to meet the demands of such users. He normally only sells through his dealers...but first responders can buy directly from him. Dealers are over a year dry on some products (for the 3 inch models, over 2 years and still waiting)...but first responders making a first order get prioritization OVER dealers.

LEO, Fire, EMS, and active military quality...you will have to show proof and it is worth the hassle. One knife per person per order. More or less, you can buy the knife, use it, and if you do not like it or want to keep it, you can sell it and still come out $150-200+ from the whole ordeal. From order to delivery, most first responders have noted that wait is usually only a few weeks to a month which for Hinderer Knives is like warp speed to the tenth power...

Hinderer also makes tactical pens and modular kubaton systems...these are also incredibly nice.

So just a heads-up if anyone is interested...
