Picked up an old Marlin Pump at the HoCo show. No Sn on the outside but there was a 4 digit number under the stock on the tang. It is a project gun cause it’s missing the firing pin. I may have to male that myself from sheet metal at work. Bore is a sewer pipe so I am not expecting accuracy if I get it shootable.

If anyone has one, I’d like to get pictures and maybe a pencil trace of the firing pin.

If you want better accuracy, from the 'sewer pipe', try buying a liner and reline the barrel.

It looks like the gun is still in pretty good condition. Is the firing pin totally missing or just broken? I once picked up a project 25s that had a broken firing pin. I replaced the pin and now that it can shoot I'm working on dealing with a feeding issue. If your 20 uses the same pin as my 25s you are welcome to borrow it to make a copy.

Nice I think I saw the same one. Is it a model 12C ?

Yes, that's the one, but there's more to the story. The rifle started life as a 12B Gallery Special, which only shot 22Short ammo. In 1931, someone ordered a barrel assembly from Remington that shot 22short, 22long and 22long rifle. True, it's not an all original 4 digit Gallery Special, but for what I paid, I'm happy. I have no idea what it would be worth if it were all original, but I know I wouldn't have bought it.

I picked up a Remington M12 at the Bel Air show. Seems like its a good time to find old pump 22 rifles.

Cool pick-ups! Pump 22s are a lot of fun. Melnic, good luck in completing your project.

    Not in Maryland
I picked up a model 20 too. It has a tang rear sight and a globe front that seem to be original. I am cleaning and evaluating it as we speak. My first Marlin pump.

I saw your rifle before you picked it up. It was the first one I wanted it but she said it sold. I"d like to see about getting a trace of the firing pin.

If you don't have a visible Serial number, Remove the screw in the back of the tang to pull the butt stock off. There you will see the Serial Number.
If you get it apart and can post some pics, it might tell me if I"m missing something else.
