    No you can do that, just understand that if you put a 16" barrel or build it to 26" OAL you just turned your pistol into a rifle, which is fine, but you can't go back to a pistol again. So if you want to keep it short and compact, keep it as a pistol. If you want a longer barrel just make it a rifle and don't look back until you get your stamp.

    No, if it is originally a pistol, and converted a rifle, it CAN be converted back to a pistol.

    If it is first a rifle, it can never be made into a pistol.

    Makes sense? No? Of course not, it is the government.
