Not sure about the Czech silver tip but the Bulgarian silver tip mil-surp 7.62x 54r is some of the best steel core you can get, top shelf ammo, only bass case is better.

Was this the stuff that was in the light blue cardboard boxes, 20 rounds to a box?
If so it was great ammo, and had lighter recoil, if I remember correctly. Wow, I haven't seen that stuff in years.

As far as the recoil, you may be thinking of the 46gr, low recoil training rounds. They come in a more squarish light blue box and have a hollow bullet, white, round tip nose. The 147 or 148gr silver tips are in a more flat-ish light blue box, sometimes with a silver strip on the box. These are steel core, silver tip rounds, with standard Mosin recoil. Hope this helps possibly.

I have a few of those rounds, a friend of mine was a sniper in the Czech military and brought them back for his girlfriend to shoot out of his PSL rifle due to the Light recoil. He was issued a dragunov while serving but unfortunately not able to obtain one here stateside.
