I've been using the AR thumb rest alongside a vertical foregrip to help keep the muzzle down on several rifles. It helps tame muzzle rise and provides a more comfortable grip as well
I thought it was a gimmick at first, but the thumb rest does position the support hand correctly and indexes the thumb parallel to the barrel. It also acts a a hand stop and barricade support.
The one that I'm using is made by black hawk. Similar gadgets go by AR gas pedal.
