Ok, so... I looked at the MSP banned gun list under Beretta and this rifle is not designated as banned or not banned under Beretta.

I then went to Springfield on the banned gun list and all it said was:

    BM-59
    SAR-48
    G-3
    SAR-3
    M-21- sniper rifle.

and it says M1 Garand is legal.

So does that mean BM-62 is legal?

I think it falls under the copy/clone provision, but a good question. For whatever reason, the lobby for the AR15 HBAR was stroger that that of the M1A... sad...

The BM-62 is nearly the same as the BM-59, so I presume that it's banned. You can always email the MSP and ask their opinion.

Of course, an AR-10 is cash-n-carry. Not as sexy, and not what you wanted, but still an option.

If not all of the parts interchange, it should be fine.

And thanks for pointing out that FAL earlier, I haven't seen one of those under $1000 in a while, I might have to pick one up now.

Yes, the FAL is gorgeous and well made :) A friend of mine in PA bought that exact one, I shot it and wanted to marry it. Perhaps the smoothest 308 I ever shot.

The BM62 is just the name of the semi-auto version of the BM59, and the parts should all interchange. Hard to see how that's not banned.
