Neat a side of the lever action world we do not see much.
Rifle was like new and probably never fired when I got it.
It came with the original Sako scope rings and I put a Leupold VX-3 3.5-10x40 scope on it. I have the origial rear sight and front hood for it but I took them off when I mounted the scope.
It shoots very well indeed. Only down side is if I ever lost the original box magazine a replacement would be nearly impossible to find.

Lever action porn of the highest order! James D. Julia is auctioning a Winchester 1873, 1 of 1000.

For serious Winchester collectors, the term "One of One Thousand" carries with it a level of prestige and significance that is unparalleled. Winchester's legendary marketing and manufacturing prowess in the mid-1870s would create a singularly special rifle, in very limited quantities, that would separate itself from its peers: The barrel of every sporting rifle we make will be proved and shot at a target, and the target will be numbered to correspond with the barrel and be attached to it. All of these barrels that are found to make targets of extra merit will be made up into guns with settriggers and extra finish and marked as a designating name, "One of One Thousand," and sold at $100.00.

Perhaps one of the most coveted, well-preserved and well-known of these storied rifles will come to auction at our Extraordinary Firearms Auction on October 31, November 1 & 2. This First Type Winchester 1873 1 of 1000 Rifle, SN: 6594, is considered by experts to be the finest example of the early style rifles with the arabesque "1 of 1000" barrel inscription. Its high level of preservation along with rock-solid provenance and chain of possession documentation (dating back to 1935), make this rifle one of the most important and desirable Winchester 1873s in private hands today. This generational collecting and investment opportunity is not to be missed!

Shot the same rifle not long ago. Buddies gun. With Hornady LeverEvolution that thing is hell on the shoulder. I'm not much of a recoil junkie as you can tell. I was very surprised at how light that rifle was compared to my Henry's.

The rifle kicks a lot harder than the one with a 20 inch barrel.

Brief range session with a newly acquired Winchester 9422M (1998/1999 production) to ensure it functioned properly. It's been on the dream list for quite some time. Very satisfied. Silky smooth action.

Very nice looking rifle and good shooting too. Was the linear group at the center target intentional?

Wish I could say yes, but I was quickly shooting this rifle, and only tested two brands of ammo. Mostly wanted to ensure it didn't have any obvious problems. At some point, I'll test it with more 22 Mag loadings, and with other rimfire levers in comparison.

Need some help for a friend. He was given a Winchester Model 55 Lever action but doesn’t know much about it. He said it uses 30 WCF ammo and is wondering if its still available.

Nice gun, the 55s with the nickel steel were a really unique gun. By the way the bluing came off all the receivers. .30 WCF = 30-30

That's the old name for normal 30-30 ammo. Nice rifle. Wonder when it was produced.

Looked up the Winchester 55. Only approx 20,000 were made during an 8 year period during the Depression. Apparently they command a higher price than the Model 94, from which it was derived, of the same era. Most were Takedown models, so the non-Takedown models are valued even higher these days.
