As the tittle says is it really worth it? I know the regular 10/22 is about 100$ less but neither can be found at this point. I'm just looking for a dependable 22lr rifle to go in my collection .
I have a marlin model 60 ? I think but it's bla for me with it's tube mag.

You will get a wide variety of opinions on this one, but mostly positive.

The takedown is not for me. I'm uncomfortable with any type of breakdown weapon (just my own OCD) and the Ruger backpack just screams "mug me and take my rifle"....lol.

If you are a hiker, or a survivalist, I guess it has its uses. My own opinion is that it is gimmicky. Gimme a standard 10/22 with a sling any day. Again, just my own opinion. Most people love them and rave about them.

I like it. I got it for that dual sport motorcycle, mad max, backpacking lifestyle that I lead with my wife, kid, mortgage...:) I guess I just like it.

P.S- I love rifles with tube fed mags. Reliable....reliable....reliable.

I have an old tube fed Savage that I would never part with. Each rifle has its own unique use. I would love to have a few more.

I am a fan of 10/22's. I love the Takedown. I love all my 10/22's. I grab the Takedown when my hands are full of other gun cases on my way to the range.

Takedown is a great design. I haven't found a scope that I like on it yet, (and still fit the bag well) right now we have a small red dot on it.......(my middle aged eyes really miss the magnification).
Paid $350 for mine as well. Look in the classified ads and see what the standard 10/22's are going for, $350 is a pretty good price.

Dicks sporting goods has been getting in the regular 10-22 carbines lately. If you want that more than the take down then I would go with the carbine. In the past ~month I bought one in crofton, saw some at glen burnie and believe westminster had some.

I have BSA Sweet 22, relatively cheap scope but works fine (not the greatest glass compared to one of my Leupolds but good for price). What I do have is solid set of Leupold quick disconnect rings (medium height). I have been to range once to zero it in. I took off scope, broke down rifle, reassembled rifle, attached scope and fired and then put a nice group on target...it held zero. Only one data point as I need to get back to range and do it again and again.... The scope disconnected fits nicely in second pocket on barrel storage side. I think the key will be the Leupold quick disconnect system to reattach consistantly near zero. Time will tell if it does.

I love mine. Throw it in a back pack or a bag and no one's the wiser. :evilgrin3

When you want/need it, you have a dependable rifle on the fly.

My only issue is the takedown is not nearly as pimpable. The bag makes it handy but I have a Rossi matched pair in 22/20ga for my pack gun. For me the 10-22 is like a GI Joe I can turn it into most anything.
