My Ward's Western Field 600A-ERI is my go-to auto-loader for upland and waterfowl (and even trap and sporting clays). Monkey Wards certainly had some decent "department store" guns made for them.
As for the new production Fox guns, if you read the article and use the CPI calculator, it's nuts how much they're asking for a new Fox today vs what Fox was selling for back in the old days. IIRC, the article said they asked $50 in 1908 which came out to about 1400 in today's dollars. not an unheard-of asking price. The MSRP on the new ones is upwards of $4000.00!!!!!!
Sorry, but I'd take an original one and have it restored for that kind of money.
I actually have a 1927 A Grade for which I paid quite a bit less than that. It is in 90%+ original condition. To be sure, IIRC, the lowest grade being made by CSMC is a C grade.
