I am also fascinated by WWII. The only thing I have collected is an ammo bag. Grandfather and step grandfather fought as did 3 uncles (other GF was a pilot WWI).
Would love to own an M1 Garand like my GF carried. He was old when he enlisted, 37. Only had 3 fingers on his right hand (he grabbed a power line climbing a tree as a kid). But he was 6'5" and strong as an ox. He passed everything they put him through.
They sent him to Europe, was with one of the first into Germany. Rescued a child names Hans and his mother, both starving and sick. Hans and my GF remained close until my GF died in 1986.
Was there ever a greater effort by mankind? Ever a clearer struggle between good and evil?
