If I had the same firmware as you I could make it fly.
Login into the M2, go to System and take a screenshot.

    Thank you--

OK here is what I have running right now.

We have the exact same firmware.

The M2 is now connected to my Laptop wifi adaptor.
After I changed from Router to SOHO I did not click apply untill
all settings were changed. Even the Enable airMax check mark appeared.:)
    I unchecked it.
Camera not seen but at least I'm online.

Now I cannot login to the M2.
Correction--M2 wifi address is now 192.198.1.1.
    On a roll.

I did a site survey and the M2 doesn't pick up the camera 4ft away.
It picks up every router, printer, phone, etc. around this block but no IP camera.
I know it's working. I can see it on my PC fine. My PC wifi router picks it up also.
Couldn't have got this far without your help.

I think you are close. Did you follow the camera setup instructions in the guide? I think your camera Ip address and wifi settings are not the same as the M2. You may even have to plug the camera into your actual router and use the ip cam tool to find the camera on your home network first. Then once connected you change all of the camera network settings to match those that you have set in the M2.

IT IS NOW ALL WORKING PERFECTLY!:D
    You were exactly right.
I think it was the camera SSID messing me up.
I backed up the M2 config, my camera config. and changed laptop IPv4 settings back to Auto.
I can login to the M2 and camera reliably now.
I'm viewing a live 1080P@30fps, rtsp, H.264H stream as we speak.:)
Bit rate might be close to 4Mb/s. I will probably dial that back to 10fps at the range.
Lag (2-3sec) is not much of a problem for me as far as PTZ.
I'm use to it being that bad on the internet camera viewing apps I use.
As soon as weather permits, I will do some range testing with my $15 Yagi on the Laptop at work.
I have access to a large sand pit and can get a LOS of almost a mile.
When I settle down and get some rest I will think about adding the shooting station M2.
That's got to be easier than what I've been through, eh?
And all of this was done on Linux Mint 18.3.
    Your help has been INVALUABLE!
    Thank You Mr.ToolAA.

p.s.--I forgot I have some battery testing to do.
I've built RC quadcopters that use 3S (12V) LiPos.

Thats cool. Im glad the guide worked for someone. We would like to see your setup when its all done. I’m also interested to see how you capture the video stream. I’ve gotten used to using the Foscam app but there are some things that I don’t like.

Give me a link to your Foscam users guide/specs and I'll have a look see.

I use VLC Player for streaming.Maybe the most popular video player/editor out there.
It even supports the newer h.265 decoder. 1/2 the bandwidth of h.264.

For example I select Media/Open Network Stream and enter this url--->
rtsp://name:password@192.168.1.13 and you can do just about anything with the control panel it opens up with the live video stream.

If your Foscam supports h.264 encoding it will support the rtsp protocol. http will also work but I would have to dig for the url command.

    I'm using this camera-->

    Amcrest IP2M-841B

I have 3 more Amcrest PoE PTZ optical zoom and they have been very good.
    I have a 4x, 12x and 25x. All 1080p@30fps.

    I just LOVE the 25X.

    Amcrest

I just clicked the link but I don’t see that these cameras have an optical zoom function. It it just a fixed lens or can you control the zoom remotely through the software interface?

And thanks for the link to the VLC Player info. I need to test it out.

No no. The 841 (my target camera) does NOT have optical zoom but some of my other cameras do.
I have since fixed that post. It WAS confusing, sorry.:o

My IP2M-848E is PoE 4x optical zoom

My IP2M-853E is PoE 12x optical zoom. Sony Starvis image sensor.

My IP2M-858W is 25x optical zoom. Sony Starvis image sensor. PoE OR WiFi.
    My favorite camera by far.

The big deal about the Sony Starvis sensor is the low light capability.
I mean LOW LOW Light. Color image quality is just incredible in low light.

I built an RC hexacopter (6 rotor) about 5 years ago and I can use
its BATTERY to power THIS camera and M2 wifi radio.

I don't need that much battery but it needs to be used
and it has already been paid for.:)
    6S/30C LiPo (24VDC)@8000mAh.

I will use THIS to supply 5VDC to the camera.
And THIS to supply 12-24VDC to the M2.

Did you have any problems focusing your 16mm lens?
Did it screw in far enough?
Could you "overshoot" the focus in?

Just wondered if I have to cut the lens threads off on my lathe to allow more movement.

    thanks

No it threaded in just fine. I setup the camera about 10ft from my target and then slowly adjusted the lens until I got the clearest image.

yes, you can. I use a linksys router and a foscam camera.

their software looks for two things: 1)the SSID of the wifi router (must be "bullseyecamxxxxxx" where xxxxxx is a number to differentiate you from another system. i.e. ssid of wifi router is bullseyecam100000 or something similar. No encryption. Camera device name should be BullseyeCamera but I am not sure if that matters and 2)IP address of camera should be static and 19.168.1.252. Client can be DHCP, it doesn't care about that.

    so basic setup is:
router ssid bullseyecam0123456 (whatever number you want)
    no wifi encryption
router set to DHCP server for clients and IP address 192.168.1.1
    camera device name BullseyeCamera
    camera IP static 192.168.1.252
camera set to connect to router ssid in infrastructure mode via wifi (or cable if you want)
client PC or smartphone DHCP set to connect to wifi

range is iffy sometimes at 600 yards (as with any such system) and I have used a wifi repeater router with two antenna ports with a yagi pointed each way at about 300 yards to make the signal bulletproof (pun intended) on the firing line.

in the interest of not hijacking this thread further PM me if you want any more info

    Mac1_131,
Is there a particular port or something that the bullseye software is looking for outside of the default port 88? I got everything set up and have tried with both my m2 nano and an older linkage router...it sees the network, but fails to connect to the camera. I’ve tried using ‘BullseyeCamera’ as well as ‘bullseyecamxxxxxx’ to match my ssid. I do t have any security set, so my next guess is that they look for a nonstandard port?

martin777, I went through a bunch of ports in that range...default for Foscam is 88, tried probably 75-90, but haven’t had the patience to just run through everything. I have it working with OWLR and the old foscam app(the new one refuses to connect to any of my cameras from my phone), so I’m just rolling that way for now. If anyone has a bullseye system and would like to help, once connected to the systems WiFi, go to a command prompt and do an ‘ipconfig’...I think that should expose the ip and port I believe. If I find it otherwise I will report back with instructions as well as some finished pics and such of my system. Cheers.

ToolAA, I have been following your post for about a year now and am finally starting my build so first things first. Really great post and what an effort. Kudo's!

I do need some clarification and possibly martin777 might have some insight. I am using the same camera as martin777 Amcrest IP2M-841W. Will this camera accept 12vdc into the DC5V socket? I have (2) LOCO M2 antennas, Tripods and (2) 12v 5ah AGM batteries. I would like to keep the build simple and use the battery to power both the M2 and the Camera. Typically i have to break at least one item and rather it not be the camera.

I was also wanted to know about the Lens. I seen earlier in the post a question about this camera and a link to a lens with no reply. Martin777 did you replace the lens in the 841 and was it difficult?

BTW I know I wanted to keep this simple..... I do have 2 of the cameras and in the end i would like the option of setting them both up. We can save that for another day so again i appreciate any advice and look forward to getting back out to the range.
