Oh... under MD law you cannot have a gun on an oyster dredge.... I'm assuming your boat is not an oyster dredge :-)

    NR 4-1013
    http://law.justia.com/codes/maryland/2013/article-gnr/section-4-1013/

    (g) Subject to the laws relating to firearms, the captain, master or any person on board or having control of any dredge boat, may not have or permit to be kept on the dredge boat more than two shotguns not larger than a number ten gauge and using shot not larger than number one.

Thanks everyone, appreciate the responses. LOL, nope not a dredge.

Well, even on a dredge you can have a 10Gauge. The only thing you can't have is this:

Saw one of those punt gun monsters on Chesapeake Collectibles. Valued at around $8K if I recall.

Of course they were mounted on a cannon-like swivel mount. Firing it would push the boats backward by 30 feet.

Every boater I've met that were headed off shore or islands had gun questions and "can I?" never comes up. Most popular- stainless mini 14, there's a stainless shotgun that people like too, I forget the name.

The 870 Marine Magnum is my weapon of choice for the week long trips we take on the bay.

If accessing the river from MD shore you most likely at some point will be on Federal Property (C&O Canal National Historical Park)........ different rules.

National Parks follow statutes of the state they are in.

In MD unloaded long gun carry is legal.

Your right, thanks for the heads up. Below, C&P from the .gov website

"As of February 22, 2010, a new federal law makes possession of firearms in national parks subject to local and state firearms laws."

I just got to my shop to get some Electronics to install in a boat and a friend of a friend just had his boat siezed! another country, more info to come.

He had two pistols onboard in a country that does not allow that. So far he was underway, got stopped, boarded and pistolas found. Not MD. This country, I'll post when I know, does have due process (no terror watch list or no fly list) and he is expecting to get everything back. Funny how I post in this thread and then an incident occurs.

The popular shotgun is something rather aggressive I forget, getting old.
