    Had a misfire yesterday on a 308.
My first dud since starting reloading 2 years and over 5000 rounds.
Definitely not a light strike and tried the round several times after waiting 30 seconds. Pulled the bullet and dumped the powder. At the bottom wa a yellow clump. Looks like some case lube fell to the bottom when lubing. I usually use a q tip and light lily lube the inside at the beginning and when needed. Gonna switch to using something that will not fall apart on me. Maybe something used in cosmetics or something. I right now use Hornady Unique case lube.

Get an RCBS Case Lube Pad and Case Lube-2 for the outside of the case.

Use a little Case Lube-2 on a case neck brush for the inside of the case.

Dillon Case Lube, or my own 'Bootleg' homemade case lube, using lanolin and alcohol.

After sizing, I ALWAYS re-tumble to remove any trace of lube, before proceeding with the loading process.

In all of my years of reloading, I've had ONE failure to fire, and that was an '06 case that I didn't charge with powder.

How did you come to the conclusion that its the case lube ??
Did you pull other cases in that lot you loaded ??
What does the powder in the can look like ?
Does the powder smell sweet or acidic ?
Spray Case lubes are designed once dry not to migrate or cause problems with powder.

Must have been watching Chad's myth of overlubrication thread and got confused?

He meant the parts of the gun, not parts of the ammo....

How much lube was used?? That seems excessive if it was case lube. Perhaps contaminated powder and not lube that was in the case still?
