Only a few weeks ago we could have the discussion:

"Which is better the AR15 or AK47?" or "Should I get a FAL or AR10?"

etc etc. we can no longer have those debates!!

Now that nature of the State of Maryland has changed....In your opinion What are the MUST HAVE rifles??

It doesn't matter what caliber, bolt or semi-auto or purpose (ie battle rifle vs hunting) just that its a modern firearm and NOT C&R. Be specific (make and model) and a rifle you can't get mailed to you house with a C&R

100% a bolt action 22. It serves so many purposes. I won't get into make/model but its a necessity.

I'll also add a lever action in a caliber that you have in a pistol.

I always thought a Remington 700 would be a must have.

    Or a Winchester Model 70.

Just can't go wrong with a good bolt action. Caliber would be personal preference.

Some bolt action rifle in a 30 caliber.
    Bolt AND semi in .22
AR in 5.56 with different upper sets.
    Semi in .308

And a good true rifleman at the trigger.

    I few of mine:

CZ 527 (bolt) in .223 with a Redfield scope. Total quality.

Savage 93 in .22wmr. Quality feel. Great trigger.

Mini 14 Stainless. (.223 semi) solid.

Still looking for the right Winchester 9422xtr. (Lever, 22wmr)

For hunting, the R8 modular rifle system by Blaser. Following a recent hunt in Africa I'm so convinced of the superiority of their R8 system that I make this statement.

I forgot to mention the 10/22. I have a couple of them and believe that everyone should own one.

Almost did this ... just got a Ruger 77/357 as I had been accumulating ammo for a 686 (3-inch Talo). Have been waiting to get a Winchester 1892 carbine in 357, and will pick one up eventually. However the Ruger became available sooner, and I had been keeping an eye out for Ruger bolts as I also want the American 22LR (can't let you and Boom Boom have all the fun).

Now, as SCARCQB lists, the bigger brother Ruger Gunsite (in stainless) is getting my attention. Want something in 308 (maybe because it's deer season), and the Gunsite or a Browning BLR 308 are among my current lusts. As well as the AR-10, although need to save a bit more (lots available on Slickguns for about $1800).

I think you know how I feel about garands but staying with your list.

    I would say
    REM700
    10/22
    AR10
    Isn't the scar still legal?

I think everyone should have at least one .22. 10/22, Marlin 60, or bolt action, etc.

Most everything else that you absolutely need could, theoretically, be done by a shotgun.
I wouldn't necessarily pick a shotgun for all those things as my first choice, but for basic hunting and HD, a shotgun can do the job.

Nice to have - if you don't already have an AR15 or AK, I would have a Mini-14 or HBAR.
I would also have a carbine in the same pistol caliber as my primary handgun, and a longer range, precision gun - Remington 700 or tricked out AR-10, etc.
