Before the Raising Of The Drawbridge, I came and went across the moat couple of times, and then twice, if I recall, after Moat Hour, before finally staying put on the Right Bank. They seemed a lot more lax about me because I had on no slogan/message/logo wear and had a bunch of Official Looking Camera Gear on my torso. Later, when they were being a lot more draconian about it (for us), I signaled to the Asian officer who was in place off and on, and clearly hand-signed a question about being able to walk again over to the Left Bank. He didn't say no, but he immediately went to a lot of trouble to pretend he couldn't see me, and wouldn't engage. It was all as clear as mud, on purpose of course. But no question that anyone who looked press-ish could wander about with relative impunity - including no small number of obviously amateur-hour blogger types. And, little old ladies, too.
Now that you mention it, a prayer blitz is a good idea. It's worked before. So

Alan Dershowitz will have a coronary if the ACLU rejects your case. Man holding 1A sign arrested in violation of his 1A rights. What more needs to be said? I did see the ACLU filed a new case on behalf of immigrants today, which really underscores the American in American Civil Liberties Union.
The ACLU needs to remember that in 1977 it stood up for the National Socialist (Nazi) Party of American in the suit against the Village of Skokie, Illinois, to earn them the right to march in the predominantly Jewish community.

Wonder if they would have arrested you if you walked back and forth alongside a member of the “opposition”? What if you followed/walked with the bald headed guy with the creds around his neck? Interesting thought.
Don't recall seeing anyone complain, just some folk looking for alternatives to snail mail. I knew GoFundMe was a no but did not know that about PayPal, though it doesn't surprise me.

The ACLU is no longer what it once was, and is just a shell of its former self. Their current leadership has bit on the "public safety above all else" line of thinking, and are equating civil rights with a myopic view of "social justice". Both at the cost of defense of actual civil rights.

ACLU is now just 4 random letters that stand for nothing in particular. Actual Civil Liberties got trampled by their left wing agenda.
