Kids were off today, so I took most of the day off to spend time with them, but after a bit, also snuck off to the range. Wanted to ammo test two rifles to pick an ammo to work with for 50 yard and longer distance shooting. Took both a Browning T-bolt in 22 Mag (with a scope) that I posted about before and a CZ-455 Trainer in 22 LR (with iron sights). Both have great triggers (especially the Browning, who would have thought) and are light, slim rifles that are fun to shoot. A couple pics from the day below.

Oh, and it will be Hornady V-Max 30 gr 22 WMR for the Browning and probably CCI Minimags 40 gr RN 22LR for the CZ moving forward.

Not bad for 50 yards with iron sights! I'll bet you can shrink those groups another .25-.50 inches with more practice. CCI's seem to shoot well in everything I've ever owned. Maybe not the best but, definitely consistent.

Your day was much better than mine! :D

Two fun speed 22lrs. Both of these are light as can be and a blast to shoot.

Those were 25 meters (approx), my friend. Was shooting a lever 22 Mag and pump 22 LR with iron sights for the first time so was lazy and just did all my work at that distance. I also wanted to choose ammo to move forward with. I'm sure that with the Browning in the earlier post and a Ruger 10/22 that I have with a target barrel that I can lay down dime sized groups at 50 yards with either. I've done it with the Ruger.

With my eyesight, to improve accuracy using irons at 50 yards or more, I'd probably have to move to peep sights.

As you know, a day at the range makes any week better.

Didn't mean to break up your two posts. Cool, drool worthy builds. I like the lightweight Ruger 10/22 in particular.

No worries at all. I have a safe full of different 22’s and I really love these 3 the most. The lightweight 10/22 is a ton of fun.

    Where do you shoot at?

Mostly Frederick IWLA range, esp for rifle shooting. Only goes to 100 yds at the present time, but it's uncrowded during the weekdays if one can take time off.

It's enjoyable for me to learn a .22 rifle's POI and test several brands of ammo to find what works best. I love a good bolt action. Some of my most relaxing days at the range have been with my Rem 541T leisurely knocking over steel silhouette targets at 'ridiculous' distances.

As you know, a day at the range makes any week better.

    You can say that again.

This rig is FAR from done, but just thought I'd share a seemingly rare pic of a SW22 Victory (stupid name IMO) with a Volquartsen Fluted barrel but but without the compensator, and with its stock front sight and rail. It is a damn tight fit in the receiver, to the point where I think it'll be hard to take the barrel back off, but hopefully that'll contribute further to accuracy. The Optic is a Burris FastFire II, and the blade propping her up is a Benchmade 531 by Mel Pardue Design. Enjoy! --JBinDC
