Gotcha. I bought one from Numrich, it has some hairline cracks so I am debating returning it.

Have you had any luck sourcing a Yugo handguard? German K98 handguards will not work without removing ~1/2" of wood.

No, but removing wood isn't tough for me to do as I have a full woodshop downstairs. I still need to break mind down totally and clean it.

Nice looking stock for a sporter. Definitely not a hack job.

So, I FINALLY got around to cleaning her up tonight. While it's not a hack job in terms of cutting the stock down, it was a massive hack job when it came to shellacking it. They didn't take it out of the stock. Didn't even bother to pull it and clean the cosmoline off before shellacking it. Luckily it's the same crap-tastic commie shellac that comes off very easily and thus, I have saved the metal parts, but the cosmoline is so old and dried that even a heat gun won't make it do anything more than soften slightly.

Good news is, the stock has the threaded piece the cleaning rod attaches to, so I won't have to get one of those.

Couldn't find any more proof or Waffenamt marks on it, they scrubbed it really well. Even the rear sight doesn't have any markings below or at the stock-line which is somewhat rare from what I've read.

Taking it out tomorrow to see how she shoots.

I was able to clean mine as well. The K98 was very dirty but nothing terrible, but the M48 was covered in shellac! The only thing that took it off the metal was a plastic scraper.

Btw the Yugo K98 stock from Numrich was too short; it turns out my K98 still has the original German barrel. It's worth checking if yours does also to save you from the headache of a return: https://forums.gunboards.com/showthread.php?1037451-Yugo-K98-rebarrel-question#/topics/1037451

Thanks. I'll pull it from the stock tomorrow when I clean it from use at the range today. It shot beautifully. I'll check the barrel proofs. Didn't see any WaA stamps on it, but I do have some 'S' marks similar to what is in the photos you linked. All else fails, I'll drop a cleaning rod and measure.

All German proofs were scrubbed on mine, the Yugoslavians were very thorough. The only way I could tell was measuring with a cleaning rod.

My Yugo is the same. Well scrubbed. I think they missed one on mine under the wood.

The Russian ones are another story. They didn't seem to care

Maybe not C&R, but Mosin Crate has some shooter grade Colt Pythons that are Israeli police surplus. Asking $2k or best offer. Based on their condition, I'd be surprised if gets $2k ...

Halfway through the video, he also has Jericho 941Fs that have Philippine National Police marks on them (and there are a couple of 941s with safety on the slide at the end). Good looking guns. 9mm pistols based on the CZ-75 design and with polygonal rifling.

We're getting a lot of good info about different dealers having firearms and ammo in stock, and that can be really useful these days. I suggest that we post those things here, so that they'll all be in one place, and then we can just check the last messages to see what's current. (Maybe one of the admins would consider making this a sticky, so that we'll always know where to find it?)

Not sure how many like to keep a good stock of PLATED lead .22 Short ammo on hand but, as they allow us to shoot off our back deck without disturbing JAX while he’s relaxing, I am among them, fer sure!: 22 SHORT 29GR RN REMINGTON GOLDEN BULLET BRICK 500 / $39 ($10 flat shipping on unlimited other bricks, cases, etc.):

Saw that this morning. Immediately added to the cart. Good groundhog and squirrel ammo for the back yard when I'm defending the vegetable garden.

Classic just announced they have a shipment of M24/47s in. They're asking typical Classic prices for them though. $350+shipping.

Centerfire Systems has more of their gunsmith special antique Turkish Mausers. Price seems to reflect the condition better versus what they went for before.

I'd be in for one if I didn't already have two sporter restoration projects going.

Looks like they are expecting a shipment of GP11 later this month! Just one case is all I want. Hope it’s a good size shipment!

Cant speak for the prices but that's the nicest range of C&R I have seen in one place for a long time.
