I love looking for good deals on used rifles that I can use, saw this Ruger 77/22 mag Varmint with Leupold Vari X II 2-7, Harris bi-pod and sling on United Gun Shops thread a couple weeks ago and put my name on it.
Picked it up today and it's in great condition, can't find a mark on it, ran serial number and it dates from 1994, looks like it has had very little use over the last 24 years.
Always wanted to try a 22 Mag and I love how this one is a full sized rifle.

Congrats looks like you got a nice one! Have you shot it yet? I have one 22mag bolt gun and that’s enough for me. Mines a Marlin I’ve owned for sometime now.

I have the same rifle. Was a wedding gift from my beautiful wife 24 years ago.
Mine sports a 3 X 9 Burris. You will be very happy, it’s a tack driver...

Thanks guys, was pretty happy to find this rifle ready to go, those VariXII's are worth a couple hundred alone and are well thought of scopes. Will try to get it out to the AGC today and bang some steel just to try it out, accuracy test will have to wait a little.

Ran out to the AGC this morning and set up the steel real quick at 100 yards, first shot hit the steel no problem, tried 3 different ammo brands and bullet weight and got 3 distinct groups even though I was not trying for groups.
It's looking like it will be a very accurate rifle when I get a chance to put it on paper and try for accuracy. Seems like it has good barrel on it, I read that 77/22's of this vintage had Wilson or Douglas barrels.
