I have been procrastinating posting this along with all my other Arisaka's and my one Finn M91. Anyway, I just got this over the weekend at Redding's auction. It unfortunately seems that the barrel and receiver are mismatching. The mum has been mostly scrubbed. Other than that it appears to be in good shape. As you can see from the pictures it reads "Type 2". You can see it can be split in two and put back together and receives its bayonet like any other. Unfortunately in trying to use a standard dust cover to complete it, I found that a standard one does not fit on a Type 2. When I put the dust cover on it will not allow the bolt to close because it hits the end of the receiver before the bolt can engage. So it seems the Type 2 has its own size of dust cover.I am really excited to get this in my collection and will be taking it to the range this weekend. There is a lot I could write about, but I am much better at answering questions people have than just vomitting a crap ton of information.

Nice! I love the T2s, always thought it was a really neat gun. Shame about the mismatched halves but it seems a lot I've seen up for sale recently have been the same. Looks like the wood on yours is really nice though, congrats! I was on my way up to the auction but got called into work unfortunately so didn't make it. Had my eye on the T97 sniper there. Probably for the best though as once I got home and looked at the photos again I saw that the little leaf spring thing on the scope mount was broken off, since they are pinned on there would have been a pain and $ to get a replacement made and put on.

The Type 97 was really nice other than that, But it went for just under twice my Type 2. I am kind of glad I did not get the Type 97 because I would have to aim stupidly low a maybe hit the top of the target. Also I can break down the Type 2 and stick it under my night stand where I have space.
