I've had this rifle for about 10yrs, but from my quick research on the little bit of info on the web it's finally reaching C&R status (seems manufacture date is somewhere between 1965-68). Savage model 840 bolt action in 30-30 with a detachable magazine. My grandfather gave it to me a few years before he passed and it has a little bit of a story behind it:

Back in the late '60's he was the president of a fairly large company that manufactured industrial equipment, and at one point he and the company were involved in a lengthy and heated dispute over something or other with the labor union. He began receiving death threats, "protests" began occurring outside their home, and on a few occasions they saw people looking in windows and circling the house at night. My mother remembers him buying this rifle and standing at the window with it during several of these occurrences when tensions were at the highest. Luckily he never had to use it during that time, and after that he put it away for good without ever firing it. It's still unfired and in basically brand new condition. Pretty neat little gun, real light weight and beautiful blonde beech stock.

That is an amazing little rifle. Unfired makes it incredible in my book. Very cool to know that it was bought to defend your family.
