    I predict end of 2014.

Obama will stage an(other) incident and they will say they tried but it is just too dangerous to the public to allow the grandfathered firearms to remain. They will give us 120 day to voluntarily turn in or dispose of our firearms. That will get around 90%. Then they will try to come get the rest. That will get another 7-8%. Then they will have a 30 day general amnesty. That will get another % or so. They will then WACO the rest.

I can't see anything making it though congress until after the 2014 election and even then history shows that the Gun grabbers are more likely to loss seats not gain them. Do I think Obama would if he could. Hell yes. Do I think he will no.

    Thanks

If you really believe that 90% of gun owners will give up their guns voluntarily, you must not get out much.

I am a Vietnam Veteran in my sixties and know many many like minded people who will never agree to give up their firearms. We know what it is like to put our lives on the line for the cause of freedom and will do it again if need be.

I suggest you read the Federalist Papers so that you can learn why people are willing to die to be free.

    Confiscation is never gonna happen!

    You wanna know why?

Because LEOs like to go home at the end of their shift. The politicos will need to find another enforcement avenue.

I think you are wrong. Most people are all talk. I'm not saying you are one of them. I think we would be lucky to have 10% of gun owners to take up arms in such an event. I think it will be more like 1%. I don't plan on giving up anything, but chances are, I don't think they will come for most of us when we are home. Why have a shootout when they can clean me out while I am at work and then arrest me whenever?

If confiscation comes this will become a major civil rights issue, or atleast sensible logic would agree with that. I don't know if we would be so fortunate though, the way the media manipulates the majority we will only continue to be cast as extremists and a threat to society. But if our great nation should succumb to such a tyrannical future i believe the great minds of true patriots could band militias and use their skills to fight back. How many gunsmiths, machinists, engineers, mechanics, survivalists etc. do we have on the pro gun side? I hope big brother reads this and takes that into consideration...

I agree with you partly, a lot of people do not want to risk going to jail for not complying with the law. They will use the threat of criminal charges to make people cave because you can't protect your family at all if you are incarcerated.

The stats I've seen put the percentage of MD gun owners at between 21% & 34% of the population. Easily a million souls. One percent of that is 10,000 people.

As I understand it, the American Revolution embodied about 3% of the population in an active role, with about a third of the rest silent supporters.

I don't think you're going to be able to field a force to remove the firearms of even 1% of the population without causing more trouble than it's worth. Jailing the ones you don't have to kill outright would run 30K per, or $300 million per year. That's a lot of jack; further, there aren't the facilities to house them. (That would be a nice step toward full employment; building prisons and staffing them.)

Possible, but not the sort of solution you can use to bootstrap yourself into the Presidency. Even O'Malley can figure that one out.

I suspect national confiscation would only happen if there was martial law. Martial law across the entire nation seems unlikely, short of a global catastrophe. Confiscation state-by-state, slowly over time, seems more likely. However, I think that would come to a tipping point, eventually, when a number of states would hold out and just say no.

There's always the possibility the US Constitution is amended, with a citizen disarmament amendment.

Does any of this mean guns will go away? I seriously doubt it.

You'd have another civil war. WVA an VA would secede along with most southern states, Midwest , and Texas.

If confiscation comes I feel it will either go down as a legislative attempt to gut or remove the 2nd Amendment. After hearing folks on other forums there are some folks that are ready to abandon the Constitution and adopt a European socialist model.

Other option is to move against gun owners in the way the King of France moved against the Templars. I know some of you think the military will stand against this but, in my experience, many young service member don't know their head from their ass when it comes to the Constitution and will go with the flow. As will the Americans that have lost their back bone.

Obama has divided this nation to a point that it will take the messiah himself to come down and fix it all. What matters is knowing your neighbors and having a support network so if it does come you can slip out of MD to a gun friendly state, reorganize, regroup, and counter attack.
