Galil Ace Muzzle Brake Removal

Does anyone know how to get the muzzle brake off of a Galil Ace in .308?

I've gone through an entire wrench collection, and tried turning in every direction. Nada.

they use rock set ( a high temperature loctite on them . add some heat and it's a right hand thread.

If it's Rocksett, you need to try a hot water bath before you unscrew it. 10 - 15 minutes should do it. And it'd be good to know if it's got left-hand threads. I've never messed with a Galil, so I don't know that one.

should be right handed 5/8 x 24. pulled the 1 off of my 7.62x39. had to heat it with a rose bud to the point of discoloring on the flash hider. ( had to heat it up twice. once wasn't enough to get it loose. and had to heat it longer the 2and time) I'll have to try the hot water next time.

I use Rocksett on some of my Griffin muzzle devices. The hot water method has always worked well for me.

Rocksett and Loctite are different things.

Loctite softens with heat.

Rocksett does NOT. You need to use hot water to loosen Rocksett.

I am aware they are different. I just couldn't think of the name Rocksett when posting my comment, being lazy I used the word locktite. the water thing is new to me . do you stick it in boiling water?? and if so how long? the heat does work on rocksett . but it does require more than locktite.
