So Sgt Shultz on Hogans Hero’s carries. Krag and not a K98k. There are various reasons why sited. Most popular seems to be he did not want to carry something genuine Nazi German.

So I have been looking for a Springfield Krag for years now that had a good bore and a fair price. Found one today at Timmonium.

Even found some 30-40 Krag (not so friendly price) so drove by AGC on the way home. It was shooting this ammo high and left. But once I figured where it was hitting I could mail the steel every time. That’s all I ever ask for in most of my milsurps.

I sold my nice one but still have the Bubba, fantastic shooters and using a 150 gr bullet it approached a 308 round. Almost identical to the 303 Brit. Should I ever sell it I'll make you a deal on dies and brass. Noticeably less recoil IMO.

Since I mentioned brass.... 30/40 seems to stretch out quicker than most I've reloaded for.

That's a great find!! I've been watching clips of Hogan's Heroes this past week.
It really was a great show!
I've often wondered how Hogan had his flight cap, nice jacket, etc., if he was a captured pilot?

Very nice! Krags are one of my favorite shooting guns. I keep thinking of divesting my stare and then change my mind.

It looks correct to me. I have 2 things I would like you to check:
1- On the stock's left side (2 o'clock from the trigger guard) there will be a proof mark "JSA 1896" if the stock was original to the rifle. If it was a factory SA restock, it will have a serif "P" behind the trigger guard
2- What is the rear sight graduated to, 18 or 20 with a "C"? (This is a longshot, but it is not unheard of for '96 rifles to have a '96 carbine rear sight.)

    Yea
It’s a restock , one of the first things I looked for. has the (P) on the bottom

    Rear sight goes to 18
    I don’t see a C on it anywhere

Straight from the *gun show table* to the range.

I don’t think I ever pulled that off, unless maybe it was with an ammo purchase, I’m almost certain never with a new-to-me firearm ...

Straight from the *gun show table* to the range.

Somehow, on some level, I feel certain that should be “a thing.”

Certainly a sign of living life, right!

    Sullllll-loot!

OMG! I've watched just about every episode of Hogan's Heroes and I've never noticed he carried a Kragg. <hanging head in shame>

Forgive me father for I have sinned.

I never noticed either, well most of the years I watched the show, I was not a collector. I was searching for something on IMFDB, then took me to Hogan's Heros, then scrolled the entire page and when HUH? Then looked into it more.

Do you know the song? Apologies to any who might be offended.

A high percentage of Allied POWs were air force.

Wasn’t Air Force- it was Army Air Corps, USAF was founded post WWII. My wife’s Grandfathwr was a USAAC POW for over a year.
