I’m a fairly new resident to DE (just moved here last year), and I have yet to buy anything in-state. With the warmer weather I’m starting to get that itch for something new.
I was curious if anyone could give me any recommendations for some good shops with quality service and good people, or more importantly the places I should avoid (and why)? I know this is all subjective, but I’d still appreciate the input.
I’m in Kent Co., but I have no issue driving north or south for a pleasant experience.

Thanks in advance for any feedback, and have a great Memorial Day!

Try federal firearms. Small home based ffl. Good stuff. Good service.

Stay away from millers, as noted above an anti 2a shop.

Lighthouse guns in Selbyville is a good one.

I found myself in Ocean City last week and took a ride up to this store to purchase some standard cap mags. Parked the bike, walked up to the door where I was greeted by a large "No Loaded Firearms" sign.

Since the Sig on my hip wasn't welcome I turned on my heels and left. I would have liked to give my business to a mom and pop guy but Cabelas will get a several hundred dollar purchase instead of this jack wagon.

When he had the store in Elkridge it was actually the closest LGS to me but after having a completely terrible experience in there the one time I darkened the door I drove past him every time to do business with 2A Sales in Jessup.

Agreed. I stopped in once and that was it for me. I wouldn’t even do a transfer at Nations gun show with him.

I actually knew the owner of Miller’s Gun Center. He lost my respect when he advocated for gun control legislation to increase the $$$ coming in.

Not directed at you but in response to you. Well over 50 loaded "unloaded" firearms have been handed to me for sale, evaluation and inspection while working in the industry. Most firearm owners are woefully undertrained and overconfident in basic firearms safety. Doubly so for Mil/LE. I know Gus has previously had an ND occur in one of his shops by a customer owned firearm that was brought in for consignment..

Just like the signs at gas pumps not to smoke while fueling the signs at gun shops aren't necessarily for you but for the lowest common denominator to not blow himself up with grandpas old blackpowder that had 3 live charges and projectiles shoved in the barrel. In my opinion the world would be a better place if every intial 4473 contained a clause to tattoo the 4 rules on a persons dominant hand.

So, I guess I'm the only one that read the title, DE Gun Shops To Avoid?

Couple of small asshat shops that are $100 over MSRP. Walk in an walk out but check them all out. You never know what you'll find.

That’s why I treat EVERY gun as if it’s loaded. Even if I know it’s not! Only have to make a mistake once.
