I got into a very funny discussion in a Glock Polymer 80 forum with some folks who truly believe that one cannot build a 'Ghost gun'. There will always be a trail from the vendor and even paying cash at a gun show the surveillance cameras will see you. If you talk to anyone at Midway/Brownell's etc the calls are monitored, your tv and Alexa will view or record you and Big Brother is ubiquitous so ghost guns are a myth, not hidden from the gov't and truly not possible.
Told one guy I thought he was just a bit too paranoid and why I felt that way but to no avail. Oh well, more 80% frames for others

I am not a machinist by any stretch, and bought a cheap drill press and a 3 dimensional vice, thinking I would build my self a couple of those to go with uppers I had already. The polymer ones I screwed up so many times I think I had to buy about 6 of them to get one that worked. Then I started with aluminum. I think it took 3 aluminum ones to get one that worked. In the end, it would have been a lot cheaper to just buy two fully built lowers, which I will probably do to replace at least the polymer one. The polymer ones can fail in ways that are minor, but make them unworkable, like the detents that hold the recoil spring, or the pin holes for the safety. It is more the holes drilled that were a problem due to the bit skewing during drilling. You think it should just go straight through the plastic but not always apparently.

I think if holes are skewing when drilling with a drill press with the workpiece held in a vice something is not right with the drill, bit, or vice. Especially with polymer. if everything is tight it should drill exactly where the bit is set and should not be able to wander.
You hit the nail on the head. People should know by now, if they are tracking the Trump spying debacle, that every phone call, every text message, email, credit card purchase, phone location, car location, etc. are all being recorded and stored at the big data center in Utah. They have been doing that for years, supposedly with protections in place to keep them from being "misused". However, it appears that the government decides what misuse is on a case by case basis. You had better believe, that every purchase of everything you have ever made is recorded and can be retrieved if desired at some point in the future. If they can retrieve the presidents phone calls, they sure as hell are recording yours. Plus the Alexa, etc. is listening to everything that goes on in your house. Your phone is apparently tracking your location at all times, supposedly even if it is turned off (I am not up to speed on that one), but I know that your paths of travel and temporal data are being stored somewhere. It is just a matter of getting the authorization to retrieve it and analyse it. This is not paranoia, but becoming a widely understood fact of life in today's technology world. Just think when you have an electric self driving car? Someone else can just lock the doors and drive you to wherever the round up is happening. Personally I think that is why the big push for self driving cars is happening (other than to reduce the cost of professional drivers). I personally do not know anyone except a couple of millennial democrats that think self driving cars are a good thing, yet, billions are being poured into that industry. The potential for abuse is unbelievable.
