Just saw this one one GB, it looks like a fun "rifle" but I'm thinking the opening bid is a bit much - 16 grand?

I mean, it looks cool, a semi-auto Ma Deuce but for that kind of money you're getting into full auto neighborhoods...

Seems to me, anyway. Am I wrong? I could be, not exactly my area of expertise.

Ma deuces have become very pricey. The days of $1,500 parts kids are long gone. A kit alone these days is $8k.

If you want cheaper with sort of the same feel at shorter ranges you can go with a 1919 in .30-06 or .308. Cant wait to try mine out. Parts kids run between $1,500 and $1,700. Complete guns between $2800 and $3500.

I don't know much about them either...but it includes three mounts and 700rnds of ammo. That's gotta be worth something?

.50 BMG has never been a stupidly expensive round. So give them a $1400 margin at $2.00 per round. Lots of cheap .50 available.

My question is, do you want it because it's a Ma Deuce or because it's a 50 BMG? Having been in the Cav, I have shot tons of 50 cal using M2 and M85, so maybe I'm not being fully objective, but you're just looking for a 50, why not go with something that won't cost what a new car goes for?

If I had the money, I'd want this because it's basically an M2 - I was radio, but the few times I got to fam fire the M2 were great fun!

No way I could ever afford a toy like that, though, so it's just window shopping and a little daydreaming for me...

I went the m2hb route. I got a parts kit a couple of years ago when a bunch came in and a KMP side plate and sear. Had my internals machined by Brian over on 1919a4.com. Tripod from KeepShooting. Still haven't finished putting it together, been to busy.

Are M82A1 Barrett's available in MD?

Yes they are. All models of Barrett rifles in 50 BMG at MD legal.

The "Barrett Light 50 cal semi auto" is banned in Maryland. I think the M82A1 falls under that.

No such rifle was ever made by Barrett with that name. The list bans a rifle by that name, but there is no such thing.

How many civilian legal FAMAS rifles are in civilian hands? The answer is probably zero. MD had put things in the regulated list that don't exist on the civilian market and were for military/LE purchase only.
