+1, My sister passed her CWP test in SC. She borrowed a .38 from her neighbor, former FBI,who had mentored her threw shooting. Most that showed up with semi-auto mirco pistols failed.

I think the revolver thing isn't about recoil as much as it is training. A lot of women aren't willing to put in a lot of training time to figure out how to manipulate the slide and quickly fix malfunctions. Thus, a six shooter is sometimes a good choice.
