Ruger single actions are tough! An action job by someone who knows what they are doing can make then one of the most outstanding single actions available.

    Very nice!

Keep an eye on the rear sight pin. It can work itself out to one side or the other. If yours does this, a slight bend in the pin will take care of it.

A very slight bend is all that is required.

Also keep an eye on the screw holding the ejector housing to the barrel.

Yes, my thought is, it's one that got away. I know there are lots of them out there, but I had one in the 70's and it was great. Still kick myself in the butt for letting it go.

    Enjoy!

I also recently bought my first Single action revolver. Super Blackhawk in 44 mag. I shot it for the first time this morning. Holy hell does that thing recoil. Fun as can be but my hand took a beating. :D

You probably were gripping it too tight and with too much stiff arm

The beauty of the BH plowhandle grip design is to let the pistol rotate in your hand to dissipate the recoil.

I tried that as well. It definitely made it more manageable. Not as manageable as my S&W double action model 29. I guess I was just not prepared for it.

It’s also very different between the plow handle and Ruger Bisley grip too but you’ll get used to it with experience. Plus it doesn’t hurt to shoot some 44 SPL for practice too

Yes. That’s the plan. I just need to get used to it. Having said that, there is something about single action guns that I love.
