And Hawaii is about 0.000% oc or cc.

If you beat a dog long and hard enough, he won’t come near ya.

The comparison to make is how many are issued per capita compared with a similar shall issue state because people in New Jersey like people in Maryland are not going to waste their time and money applying for something they know can't get.

For example New Jersey has 1,212 active permits (2013) which is 0.01% of the population. In contrast Pennsylvania has 1,275,000 active permits (2017) which is 13% of the population.

Maryland, you all know how carry friendly they are, for comparison has 17,414 active permits which is 0.4% of the population. The state with the most number of permits is Florida 1,784,395 or 10% of the population and the state with the highest percentage is Alabama with 755,618 permits and 22% of the population.

Actually I think the relevant comparison (and what I expect to see in the response) is that Rogers and all those similarly situated to Rogers can't get a permit. In other words, the NJ response is irrelevant.

So now that Grewal submitted his response when does the case go back into cert conference ?

It may show up on the docket very soon, even before Rogers' response. Seems to be in the neighborhood of 2 weeks after the expected response.

    It won't be long IOW.

Bottom line for us? This legal stuff hurts my brain.

Cert and win = for MD?

Denial of cert or loss = for MD?

Cert and win=shall issue for MD
Denial of cert=status quo, we wait for another case
Cert and Loss=MD stays may issue as long as they want

Bingo, the case will be scheduled for a conference in about two weeks. IIRC the reply brief doesn't have a due date beyond arriving with sufficient time before the conference to be read by the clerks and justices.

The rebuttal IIRC is due May 9th. We will also find out which conference its scheduled for.

Odds are, this will at the very least be held for NYSRPA like Mance and Pena. Good chance cert will be granted and consolidated with NYSRPA. I have not seen any indication this is a bad vehicle or the facts do not support reaching the question. Given that Mance and Pena are being held, and NYSRPA was granted, bad facts/vehicle problems would be the only reason in my mind to deny cert.

has there been any word of the Rogers rebuttal coming out????? I have been looking forward to a good laugh. I can't wait to see how bad Grewls arguments(weak as they are) gets pimpedslapped in the rebuttal .

Grewal's brief is already up. Just waiting on the Rogers reply and a date for conference.

The only question as far as a vehicle is the fact this was fast tracked due to the Drake precedent. At the very least I think it gets held for NYSRPA.

IMOP i think consolidation with NYSPRA would be great.! I can picture Justice Thomas doing a Michael Corleone pointing his finger into the bench in front on the other 8 saying "Today we settle all family business !!! "

These won't be consolidated, it'll be a ruling on one of them, the rest get sent back to lower courts.

I was woken up to the 2A in 2013 with the FSA. For the first time in my short 6 year involvement, I see light at the end of the tunnel...hoping it ain’t an on coming train. Those of you who have been involved for decades...thank you.

I think it may be time for you to grab a cup of coffee and some optometry.

Please allow me to affix my tin foil hat tightly for just a few seconds. Danger is all around us, and the left will not be denied their end game. They are so close to their prize that their labels (Socialist, Communist, Democratic Socialist, Marxist, etc.) are no longer shameful; they are celebrated. The Electoral College is under attack. Bloomberg's billions are supporting useful idiots wearing red shirts who show up for photo ops. Our federal lawmakers are mostly lifelong career apparatchiks for their respective parties and have but one goal being to stay in office and vote with their party. Our executive branch has exploded in power to the point of turning its already questionable "regulation" into law. Our federal court system has decided that it is okay for a district court judge anywhere to block the executive branch for just about any reason. Court precedents have become stronger than our Constitution, often times to the point of ignoring the Constitution altogether in favor of precedent. We have illegal aliens streaming across our nation's borders, filled with criminals, spies, their dependents, and many times with contagious diseases. Oh, and last but not least, our nation's debt and continued reckless spending will ultimately have its day of reckoning. If we survive this onslaught, we still must deal with Islamic extremism and foreign threats to our sovereignty. The deck is stacked against us. All I see in the tunnel is fog of war. I will take off my tin foil hat now.
