The Kimber Solo is a good piece...I very much like mine. Two potential drawbacks...Kimber recommends only 124 or 147 grain bullets and you have to reassemble it exactly the right way...otherwise it turns into a single shot pistol...and the manual does not tell you that...and it's very easy to assemble incorrectly.

Thanks for the advice. We were told it was very picky with ammo. Glad to hear there is some truth to that and not just crazy talk.

At first mine would shoot almost anything, then I had to switch to 124 grain hollow points like recommended. After cleaning one time it turned into a single shot as you described. After a little research I found out about the little spring which I missed. I think Kimber will replace the extractor if you have continued problems with ejecting. Other than all that I love mine.

When I experienced the single-shot problem I found Kimber did not have an email or listed phone number to contact them regarding it. I had to send them a letter...old school. They did reply with a copy of instructions how to reassemble the pistol correctly...it's an issue with the slide release...it could be assembled with the shaft either above the spring or below it and one was wrong. It was not addressed in the owners manual in any way. If I didn't experience it and get instructions from the company I would never have known. I hope subsequent manuals have been revised.

Outside of that I really like the pistol...the recommended 124 or 147 grain ammunition is not a handicap though one would think it should be able to digest any standard 9mm loading. Maybe these issues led to it being discontinued in the Kimber line.
