I received the Sarco kit today. The kit seems identical to the RIA one I bought for double the price. The only thing different is the barrel.

Now do you think I should confront the guy that sold me the RIA kit? I paid with paypal and did the 3% for buyer protection just in case something went wrong.

How would a ceracoat shop treat one of these if you wanted it professionally refinished? They would have to log it in their book wouldn't they? Would it just be logged as NSN?

IIRC, They don't have to log it if you don't leave it w/ them. If in/out in a day or while you wait it doesn't go into the book.

The slides look similar, but the rear serrations look like they are slightly different sizes. Maybe that's just the angle the pics are taken from.

I'd be taking a much harder look at the internal parts. I thought I had read that all of your internal parts were drop in with no or little fitting.

The one I got from Sarco needed work on the disconnector/sear/hammer to make operate properly. The sear on the Sarco kit needed to be shortened, as did the hammer hooks. The disconnector needed a bit more polishing to slide well. And the magazine that came with the Sarco kit would not lock in to place in the gun, while every other 1911 magazine I own does. Another reason I think that Sarco may be buying seconds or just out of spec parts.

I suggest you take a digital caliper to the two sets and see if there is a difference or not.

    Was the packaging the same?

Thanks for the tip. I am going to take it apart again tomorrow and go over it with a magnifying glass to look for any signs of rubbing.

The trigger stirrup isn't binding hard in the frame, but it also doesn't slide on it's own when changing the pitch of the gun with just the trigger in it. I did another 40-50 dry fires since the range, and it did stick a couple of more times.

However, a bit of movement in the grip safety appears to make the trigger move forward at times. I don't know of the grip safety is dragging on the trigger bar, or preventing something else from moving. No dykem, but plenty of markers I can use to try and find out where high spots may be.

Take some blue magic marker, or any color for that matter, and color the barrel legs on either side of the link. Assemble and rack the slide a bunch of times. Disassemble and look for wear on the legs.

The slide not going forward all the way sounds like the slide stop is contacting the barrel legs as it is locking and unlocking. That's what I am talking about when I mention "barrel bump".

Now are you going to finish it and tell them the barrel link's part in the great Browning machine. :innocent0

For the last few days when I visit the Sarco website, it says the 1911 parts are sold out.
    Am I missing something?

I've been looking too. They are sold out on all their 1911 kits. They were at the Oaks Gun show a couple of weekends ago and I'm guessing they got rid of alot of kits there. Might take them awhile to recoupe thier inventory.

You call them to place the order. They ship everything they have in stock currently and then the rest when it comes in. The only thing missing in mine was the grip safety. Don't forget to mention "April2015" for your 5% off when you call.

I ordered mine on 4/1, received shipment notification on 4/6, it was delivered on 4/8.

I used one of the recover grips on a test frame I got. I had a dedicated 22 kit on it and it is pretty sweet. Once I get another parts kit I'll be testing the 45 on he test frame. I see no issues As to why it wouldn't work.
