Heritage Training and Shooting Center Public Hours Change

In order to adequately schedule training programs and group events, Heritage Training and Shooting Center will be changing their public range operating hours in the new year.

Starting on January 2, HTSC will dedicate Monday through Wednesday to serving the community with training programs, competitions, and reserved group events. Walk-in range hours will take place on Thursdays from 5pm to 9pm and Friday to Sunday from 9am to 9pm.

Heritage Maryland Livescan Fingerprinting and passport services will continue to be available each day from 9am to 9pm. Marksmanship Simulation Lab will be available upon reservation seven days a week. Retail Hours will remain 11am to 7pm every day.

Pre-reserved training courses will take place on a scheduled basis Sunday through Saturday. Some of HTSC’s course offerings include the Maryland Handgun Qualification License Course, National Rifle Association Instructor Certifications, Range Safety Officer Certifications, Maryland Concealed Carry courses, as well as Defensive Firearm courses.

Heritage Training and Shooting Center will also begin offering United States Concealed Carry Association (USCCA) Classes in the early months of 2018. The USCCA is a membership organization that provides education, firearm training and insurance options for those that own a firearm. These courses will be added to the training schedule upon availability.

A variety of shooting matches will be taking place at Heritage in the New Year. These include the Action Shooting International (ASI) Matches, Glock Shooting Sports Foundation Indoor League Matches, and Bullseye matches. The ASI Matches will be held every Wednesday at 6:30 pm and are open to the public upon pre-registration.

Heritage Training and Shooting Center plans to release more information about new memberships and events in the first of the year.

New Hours:

TRAINING, FINGERPRINTING AND PRIVATE RANGE TIME
OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK 9AM-9PM

PUBLIC RANGE: Thursday 5pm-9pm, Friday-Sunday 9am-9pm

RETAIL: Monday - Sunday 11am-7pm

Ridiculous. Who was the genius that thought closing the range to the general public for half the week was a good idea? They need their head(s) examined.

Agree, bad move.

What good is a range if you are not a trainee or in a group? It’s just another building on the avenue.

Probably the person who is in charge of the $$$

I liked the place enough the one time I was there for an event, but it has an extremely sterile, corporate feel. Not very welcoming, definitely not a "Hometown range." Never seemed like the business model anyway.

Horrible idea. Looks like not renewing my membership was one of the best moves I made in November

The plan is to be able to accommodate more training and events. We will also be incorporating more match nights and public events throughout the Monday-Wednesday part of the week.

In January, we will be hosting the Action Shooting International Matches every Wednesday and Monday the 15th as well as a Carbine match on the 29th.

Same one that mandates glasses over glasses, headphones, (ear plugs not good enough) no 12yo shooters and not being able to turn the shooting table 90 degrees to sit with a rifle.

Silver Spring? NRA is closer, cheaper, and 25 more yards long. You can get legit magazines there too.

Its bad enough you have to pay $$$ to shoot in this state but to make days arranged for training etc.. that wont allow the general public to pay the $$$ at Your range is quite idiotic but its Your business and how you operate whatever hahaha

I have to assume that these changes are being made based on sound judgement. If that's true, then the changes would indicate that they have a demand for more training, competitions, and group events. If that's true, then good for them and the community in general. If they are successful and have a different look and feel than other ranges in MD, then they must be reaching a different type of client. I have not been to Heritage, mainly because I can't take my children there due to age restrictions (Maybe they can carve out an hour or two on weekend mornings for kid events )
