The 10/22 - Bill Ruger's Prank From The Grave

Was cleaning the 10/22 this morning after having not really shot it enough to clean it for a while.

Naturally, because this thing is like a jigsaw puzzle that requires 3 hands to disassemble and reassemble and it had been a while, damned if I didn't start to wiggle the bolt carrier out and whoosh parts shot all the way across the basement.

Found the guide rod. No sign of the spring.

I feel like Bill Ruger sat around 40 years and thought to himself, "motherfvckers, I'll make sure you remember me every time you clean this rifle" and then let out a Dr. Evil laugh.

What a love/hate relationship with this rifle.

Let's see you reassemble one of his Mark I , II, or III .22 pistols.

I did it once, back in 1984.

Yeah - I had one of those two for a while until I decided the frustration wasn't worth it.

It's almost as if Bill Ruger said, "Oh you think a 1911 is complicated? Hold my beer and go get me a pencil. You haven't seen shit yet."

Ah, ol' Bill was just a funny sort of fella!

He once watched guys picking up their brass, and thought he'd make his Mini-14 to throw their beloved brass cases into the next zip code.

He's probably still laughing!

I dread cleaning my 10/22's. Know of someone with a ultrasonic cleaner big enough for the entire rifle.... thinking about giving it a shot stock and all being its composite stock.

Angry

Thanks, I've had no issues cleaning my 10/22. After reading this I'll be over-thinking it and jinxed for sure.
