I thought this might interest some...
I have a pair of SIG P220 Match Stainless Elite pistols in 45 ACP.
I had more and more trouble shooting them due to the blank "barn door" style of rear sights.
So I had two things done:
    • Rear sight was milled for white sight dots & paint. Very easy to aim now!
    • Manufacture of custom mounting plate with SIG dovetail for a Trijicon RMR.
      • SIG’s dovetail is a custom cut by SIG – a standard Bomar or Novak dovetail will NOT work.
No milling was done to the slide! :D

A Trijicon RMR 2 will eventually go on my other pistol andwill possible also be a home defense gun (as soon as I can convince the CFO that spending $ on this is a great idea).

The work was done by AmerigunUSA:

Tried the new sights - they're better for me!

I've had the new sight mentioned in my original post out to the range a few times and I'm happy to report I can sight & shoot MUCH better against an all-black target. So far so good.

Happy with the work done so far, I sent one of the 2 replacement sights to have it milled with the inverted "V" notch plus white dots. At some point I'll put it on one of the pistols to see if my shooting improves or if I can get on target faster.

I now have 4 rear sights, 2 plain original and 2 that are custom. (Hey it's a hobby right? :D ). So I can put the 2 pistols back to 100% stock if I want to.

Anyone have experience with this type of notch on a rear sight?

Here's a pic of the new inverted V notch made from an original plain SIG rear sight:

    Good groups - for me

I FINALLY got the Trijicon (RM06, 3.25 MOA dot) mounted and here's the pair as currently configured. I haven't tried the inverted "V" sight yet.
The Trijicon REALLY helps with aim.
The targets are using the Trijicon and are shot from a bench.
    Targets:
Left-5 shots 25 yards. I had 1 flyer at 25 yards on this particular target but was able to get 1-1.25 inch groups once in a while.
Right-3 shots 10 yards which was literally almost through the same hole. (My wife insists it's one shot and that I missed the other two but it ain't so!)

I might be able to fine tune the POI but it's the grouping that I'm pointing out.
I could never even hope get this kind of grouping from a handgun with regular sights, bench or otherwise.

Ammo was ordinary Winchester 45 AUTO Target/Range 230 Gr. FMJ.

That's some good shootin' there, sir. Your "one that got away" would still be well within one of my groups :o

    Cool project too.
