I read through this bill 2 nights ago in it's entirety. It is absurd. I heard a good point made on one of the podcasts that I watch on a regular basis. Last year we had a HUGE number of new, first time, left wing gun owners. Some of these new gun owners are going to see the light when this bill makes it in front of their eyes. All of a sudden they will be like... these politicians are making it difficult for ME. It's always as different story when you have skin in the game. I know that we have some converts out there. This could possibly help us a little bit if we expose this to as many gun newbies as possible. It is far over reaching and this does not have a snowballs chance in hell of passing. At least not right now. 10 years down the road... who knows!

SJL has no co-sponsors for this bill. Why? Because she is a toxic moron who no one wants to be associated with. She tries this crazy stuff every session and it dies a quiet death in committee.

I think that relying on her "crazy" to keep this bill from becoming law is a poor strategy when Progressives hold the entirety of the legislative and executive branches.

I did get some snippets of SJL's lunacy in this video. She actually "held" an AR-15. Instant subject matter expert! She then explained that an AR-15 "weighs more than 10 boxes" and uses ".50 caliber ammunition."
It's easy to laugh and dismiss this as going nowhere, but I wouldn't take anything for granted at this point. We are truly living the Chinese curse of "interesting times."

I apologize, but I have to do this whenever the opportunity presents itself. What box? How heavy is it?

    WHAT’S IN THE BOX!

Man, it doesn't matter. If it weighs more than 10 boxes then it must be deadly. That is the bar for deadly "assault weapons". Heavier than 10 boxes. Because... Well you know... The heavier it is the more damage it will cause if you hit somebody with it. I wonder if she is talking about regular boxes or assault boxes.
I think that assault boxes are the ones with sharp corners? I have questions... I need answers.

One possible interpretation is that a bill so ridiculous is proposed so that it's laughed at and other more subtle assaults on our liberty can be snuck through. The direction we are headed will match her ultimate goals, excepting a minimal number of hunting weapons. ????

That is if people comply. If NY, CT, NJ are any indicator, compliance will be at a minimum. The folks now classified as criminals will be good, upstanding members of society. The government will have to make the next move. Will they kill countless everyday citizens to enforce it? Citizen nullification.

Consider this opinion of the Supreme Court:

The general misconception is that any statute passed by legislators bearing the appearance of law constitutes the law of the land. The Constitution of the United States is the supreme law of the land, and any statue, to be valid, must be in agreement. It is impossible for both the Constitution and a law violating it to be valid; one must prevail.
This is succinctly stated as follows:
The general rule is that an unconstitutional statute, though having the form and name of law, is in reality no law, but is wholly void, and ineffective for any purpose; since unconstitutionality dates from the time of its enactment, and not merely from the date of the decision so branding it.
An unconstitutional law, in legal contemplation, is as inoperative as if it had never been passed.
Such a statute leaves the question that it purports to settle just as it would be had the statute not been enacted.
Since an unconstitutional law is void, the general principals follow that it imposes no duties, confers no rights, creates no office, bestows no power or authority on anyone, affords no protection, and justifies no acts performed under it . . .
A void act cannot be legally consistent with a valid one.
An unconstitutional law cannot operate to supersede any existing valid law.
Indeed, insofar as a statute runs counter to the fundamental law of the land, it is superseded thereby.
No one is bound to obey an unconstitutional law and no courts are bound to enforce it.

I think MD democrats will see this bill, as good common sense gun safety. I mean, if you aren't a bad guy, with bad intentions, why would you oppose it? What do you have to hide? It's for the children, think of the children. If you don't agree, you want dead children, and have blood on your hands.

I think the whole bill is a bit too much to try to shove down our throats, but being MD, they'll try to enact it piece by piece. I figured we still had a few years of mild freedom left, but the left controlling the senate, house and POTUS, I think they are power hungry and set on vengeance. As crazy as bill HR127 is, I think we'll see many more of these in the next 4 years. Similar, or multiple pieces of her bill, hoping some of it get thru. They'll claim it's not an infringement on your 2A, as long as a government psychologist, your spouse, former spouse and coworkers feel it is acceptable for you to have that right. But, it's not an infringement, lol. Neither is the poll tax, I mean safety fee of $800, that of course will only go towards gun safety programs. Think of bill HR127 as a movie trailer. The wildest, craziest parts of this show that they'll eventually show us. Again, this is all about control, NOT safety by any measure.

Gun control is not an enumerated power delegated to the federal government

Our federal Constitution doesn’t delegate to the federal government any power over the Country at Large 2 to restrict our arms. Accordingly, all pretended federal laws, regulations, orders, opinions, or treaties which purport to do so are unconstitutional as outside the scope of powers delegated. They are also unconstitutional as in violation of the Second Amendment.

WHEREAS, our Declaration of Independence is the Fundamental Act of our Founding and part of the Organic Law of our Land and recognizes that our Rights come from the Creator God; and that among these Rights is the Right of self-defense; and

WHEREAS, our Declaration of Independence recognizes that the purpose of government is to secure the Rights God gave us; and

WHEREAS, the Constitution of the United States is one of enumerated powers only; and WE THE PEOPLE did not grant to the federal government any power whatsoever over the Country at Large to restrict our arms; and

WHEREAS, the Second Amendment of the Constitution of the United States acknowledges: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”!

I agree the Second Amendment was intended to be constitutional preemption of all gun laws the exact same way 1A pre-empts any ban on practice of religion and political speech

Congress is also bound by these Constitutional provisions

The Guaranty clause at Article IV, §4 Art. IV, § 4 says:

“The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government…” [emphasis added]

Since the essence of a “Republic” is that power is exercised by Representatives elected by The People; 4 the violations of Art. I, §4, cl. 1; Art. II, §1, cl. 2; and Art. II, §1, cl.4 (which made massive election fraud possible) strike at the heart of our Constitutional Republic.

When Electors are selected in violation of our Constitution by means of last minutes changes unlawfully made to state election laws; and/or an election is stolen by means of fraud, the Right of The People to choose their Representatives is taken away from them – and the Republic is destroyed.

Art. IV, §4 imposes on Congress the Duty to guarantee lawful and honest federal elections. Congress can do this by enforcing Art. I, §4, cl. 1; Art. II, §1, cl.2; and Art. II, §1, cl. 4 by disqualifying the Electors chosen in contravention of those provisions.

Congress may (and should) also disqualify Biden and Harris on the additional ground that their pretended election was procured by cheating. They must be stripped of their sham “win”. 5

Congress is in most part living in a lie with BIG money and CCP Payments.... My Opinion. https://thenewamerican.com/top-u-s-media-outlets-compromised-by-communist-china/

    What ammo?

I just re-read every page of this thread and the "Survivor Ammo Can" that Trepang linked is Unobtanium, anywhere.

Not only are people buying ammo at record rates, they're squirreling it away in nooks, crannies and underground to keep it from the feds. Imagine all the caches of ammo stored around the country, aside from what people are keeping in their closets and basements.

    Phew.

Archeologists 1,000 years from now are going to require unexploded ordnance specialists to accompany every study.

The state purchased or was given land occupied by the US Navy. The land was transferred to the Park Service for use as a day-use state park. The beach was littered with UXO from WWII gunnery exercises.

For the first several months, park users would phone in UXO discovered on the beach and she'd have to rush to get the Navy and county EOD down there to remove and destroy the UXO and perform more sweeps of the beach and surrounding woodlands.

I think it's finally settled down but there were several finds in the early days.

If the House Dems keep pushing this crazy crap, they will lose the House in 2022.

Gun Control is not popular with Americans right now: D’s or R’s like their guns. This is why Sleepy Joe has been President for a month with no Executive orders on guns, and hasn’t put forth any legislation.

Sleepy Joe had said he would ban SBRs on day one of his tenure.
