I saw one of these at a local shop. Seems like a nice little carbine. Any downsides to this, besides the price?

I own one. Very good and handy. Only downside is if you plan on doing very sustained rapid fire as obviously the barrel will heat faster. And all Colt barrels are made from top grade milspec steel in any case. Other than the lw barrel it's the same rifle as a 6920.

Sounds like two ringing endorsements. I'm really torn, this is something I really want, but there's a Colt SP-1 at an IP that's $250 more.

If I ever get to a carbine class, I'll be taking the Colt. I'm assuming I'll be doing some rapid fire, but not really sustained?

I've also got one. Love the weight. No practical downsides that I'm aware of. If you want to put an extended hand guard on it, the options are limited. I went with a Troy Delta rail.

I'm not going to be doing too much to this. Probably swap out the black furniture for Urban Grey and slap an Aimpoint PRO on it.

Would be fine for a carbine class

Just me but I'd get the SP-1. If the Beast gets in those things are going to go through the roof. And the 6720 is going to stay in production for a long time.

SP-1s are going for $1500+ on Gunbroker, that's completed sales  The one at the local shop is $1299, at least that's what the PM said. Too many choices.
