I keep a card with the direct contact info for the NFA branch in my wallet because I shoot a lot of NFA regulated firearms.
Nemesis makes a good point about knowing and having readily available a copy of the code regarding your activity. Most police don't care but some will listen and save themselves the embarrassment of a formal complaint.
This would also apply to the carry of a long gun, but that's discussed in another thread already.
