Does anyone know the resin identification codes of the P80 frame and jig? I would like to put some in a MoCo blue recycle bin but don't know if they're acceptable. I don't see the triangle with the number in it anywhere. I decided against calling our centralized county call center (MC311) for advice.

When in doubt, stick with the county's general admonition against putting pretty much anything but cans, bottles, and similar beverage containers in that blue bin. Their list of things you should NOT put in there (including most "rigid plastic items") is FAR longer than they things they're equipped to recycle. Odd-ball stuff just ends up being something that we have to pay someone to pick out of the recycling stream and throw in the landfill or incinerator anyway.

At best, toss that P80 jig in the "Rigid Plastics" container at the Shady Grove solid waste transfer station. But the energy it takes to make a special trip for that flies in the face of any instinct one would have towards being nice and recycling in the first place. That's why I always have a growing pile "stuff for the dump" building in the garage - because once I make the Shady Grove trip, I've got stuff for the metal pile, the battery pile, the haz-mat table, the rigid plastics bin, and usually something bulky to throw into the Pit Of Despair for trash.

Thanks. I don't know anyone with the various piles you have that goes to Shady Grove so I'll just toss them in the trash somewhere.

    Ready for the trash

I followed P80's instruction to make one cut such that the problematic frame is no longer a firearm. I went a bit further for two reasons. I've attached a photo with the result.

I showed the photo to three people: a former US soldier, an engineer, and the ex-wife of a drug trafficker. The first two asked me "what's that?" The third asked me, "what happened to your pistol?" :lol2:
