I shoot shotgun matches which require several fast strings of fire of 7-10 rounds. There is typically a reloading requirement in the string of fire. after the second string of fire the barrel is HOT making some manipulations less tgan comfortable on the offhand to say the least. Do the vented heat shields I see actually work so the topside of the gun may be handled when the barrel is hot from firing?
FWIW, the arm in question is a Mossy Persuader with standard profile 18" barrel and extended mag tube.

I have no idea if they work or not, but do not buy an ATI shield as it is coated metal and has plastic sights, get the actual Mossberg one.

I installed a xytel heat shield on a benell m4 clone for that retro trench gun look.

The plastic heat shield do not conduct heat and easy to install.
