A follow up to my request for a Marlin 336 rifle.
Got a semi-nasty call from my sister in law.
I will not bore the group will all the crap, that was said to me about
the 336. She is the same..Female Dog" that would not have her son have a very nice .177 air rifle.
So,Once again, I thank the group for all the emails.

I bought a Remington made Marlin lever action center fire last summer.

Lets just say I learned two things.

1st Buying expensive rifles off the internet not a good idea.

2nd I'm disappointed with what Remington will allow to be made and go out the door to the consumer.

The internet sell went fine but the wood on my rifle should have never been put on a rifle. The quality control must have been sleeping when this rifle left the factory. Some day I'll replace the stock with better wood.

Older Marlins are fine guns but stay away from the new crap Remington is calling Marlin

I heard that with the newer Marlins the customer IS the QC department. However someone I know recently bought one and had a problem, sent it back, it was corrected and sent back very fast.
With that being said, I think I would look for an older one.

My very first rifle... My marlin 30/30 belonged to my grandfather. It is still my favorite to shoot. He took it to Africa and from the stories I'm told had a great trip.

Wow. I love these rifles and would like to buy another one.

If anyone has an older 336 in 35 Remington, please PM me. I'd like to get my son his own.

He's a bit bigger now...and wants his own.

From a few years back hunting near Dundee, NY.

wagtail, sorry to hear that. I am sure the youngster is also. He'll buy one when he is on his own. Real passions never die.

Fir the others shooting 30/30 from the Micro Groove guns, does the rifle have a preference for bullet weights? Mine shoots 150 grain okay but is great with 170's.
