I have the 3.0, great for flies but it will not kill carpenter bees, my intended targets. This one should kill most any bug but it is crazy overpriced and you have to buy their salt cartridges. I did find some you tube vids where some refilled them though.

That might be expensive but I live in the woods and the bugs are always trying to take back their habitat. I'm going to watch these a while and may just get one.
Can confirm that the shredder will work on carpenter bees and the reloads work fine
Do you use Kosher salt as well?

After using one the past couple trips up to camp in Canada, I broke down and got the Black Fly 3.0 edition. It is the bomb.. the safety can remain off, holds more salt (I use kosher) and has greater velocity (have not chrono'd it yet tho) and a slightly more effective range. Almost picked up a red dot for it yesterday at bass pro, but I actually have one in package sitting on the table to send up to my buddy in Canada this week.. lol
Red dots fall under ITAR. Be careful.

get around 50 shots out of each co2 cartridge with the shred-er. bought the ammo and use their salt to reload.

Not having any luck finding “just” the ShredR - all I can find on their website is a ShredR “Starter Kit” for $125 … we can buy 3 of the 3.0’s for that kinda money …

The starter kit gives you the ammo and some co2. You need the ammo to reload, meaning the plastic discs that hold the salt and rotate in the gun. You won’t need to buy any more ammo, just salt for reloading and co2 can be found cheap in bulk.

the 3.0 is fun for bbq flies. Won’t do a thing to carpenter bees, even at close range. The ShredR will vaporize a carpenter bee at close range. They are very different toys. I was surprised at how heavy and substantial the shredR is. A lot of metal parts.
Biggest downside is that once the co2 is inserted it’s best to shoot the entire canister within 24 hrs.

Why are you shooting orb weavers? They're just trying to knock down your mosquito population.

I use any can of aerosol spray on them.. I also put up a couple of fake hornets nests (made from a paper bag) this summer and they actually seem to have deterred the wood eating pests so far pretty well.

No problems with real ones tryin to move into em?
